How I can design my concrete columns against lateral load (Earth Quick) in Staad Pro V8i SS6?
G+7 Floors concrete building and I have more horizontal displacement. I provided shear wall but not enough. So, I want to design some of my columns to resist lateral force.
I have used STAAD Pro V8i for 4 years in every day in my work. With SS6 the most of menu icon are place in top or left screen.
I can access to command by move mouse over and single click. It's very easy most of my activities are click click and click.
But now with Connected edition , the menu icons have remove substitute with new ribbon style. When i want to use command i must click
on ribbon(group) first and then click the menu icon. This will double or triple or more clicking activities when I want to create
beam >> plate >> beam >> node ....etc
It's ok to that new version have new capabilities which better than old version but they don't think about user behavior
we are not "Word user" which most of them use only keyboard typing but with STAAD it's different.
If you have to model a large scale building with many element it's will take a long time.
For the final this is only my opinion if possible please you get more feed back from user and improve about this.

How can i use the RAM SS Concrete wall design to verify wall cracking?
Which stress contour, S22, Smax, etc., should be used to compare with the concrete tensile stress capacity to see if the wall is cracked due to wind?
I am using RAM Connection v11 Update 2 (11.02.00.13).
I noticed in the Configuration Settings that I am allowed to change the language to English, Spanish, or Chinese. I am currently working on a project that it would be advantageous to be able to print my reports in Japanese. Would this be something that is easily addable, or in the near future for RAM Connection?

how to rectify this in plate models
I have created a very simple structural steel gravity model in RAM SS. When I import the full model to RAM Element, I have to play around with a few adjustments (materials, boundary conditions, etc.). For some reason, the steel beams I have designed in SS have red warnings for KL/r. I toggle on the CLT function and it becomes a yellow KL/r for compression warning, but these are just simply supported flexural memebers.
Why am I receiving a KL/r warning?
I am designing a small cold formed member structure with IS 801.
Attached is the staad file. When I design it with the older version of staad i.e. staad pro v8i, all members are passing. Attached is the pdf output file of it.
But when I design same std file in latest version of staad i.e. Connect Edition 21.00.01.12., many members are failing.
What is the reason and which is correct design?

I using STAAD RCDC V6.1 and facing some problem.
1. I can not edit Material property less than C20 [ for ACI 318M-2011 ]. In my site, I'm getting concrete strength about 2500 psi = 17 Mpa. whenever I want to put the value as C17 it shows error " permissible range is C20 to C100". how to solve this.. It is possible to use desired value less than C20?
2. STAAD RCDC always uses SI units.. is there any way to change the unit system?

I have modeled a simple 6 storey concrete frame in RAM and i am getting an error when i go into RAM Frame (node not found on wall... on stoyey....) also does anyone know the reason for the shading being slightly different to normal? i was wondering if the two were linked.
i can do a gravity and column analysis without any issues but when i go into frame it does not run.
has anyone had this problem before? if so what is the issue.

Hi, I have a 2 story building as shown below.
1. How does RAM SS transfer shear from high roof to low roof?
2. On second floor there is a big opening in the middle of building, does RAM SS still transfer shear through that hole by a small piece of floor diaphragm?

Is it not possible to design a prismatic member using AISC 335-89 or AISC-360?
In the attached figure, the Grey color members are wire ropes and are specified as cable members. Staad does not design these members. More over, do the members connected to these will also fail as these are not designed?
I am doing an analysis of structure which needed to check the effect of thermal change. According to individual loading results, thermal have now axial force effect to structure but additional bending moment is expected. But when I checked the combined loading (load combination), the result is totally different. Appreciate if you could help me with this. I attached the results.

Can someone clarify the 'anchored' bar end condition in RAM Concept. Does this simply mean that a standard hook, or L is insufficient, and a longer anchorage length needs to be defined, or doe sit require a physical anchorage device on the bar ([plate etc)?

I was wondering why is there two parameter where you can define steel strength?
And also, when I select S355 from SGR, why does not the steel strength parameter(PY) change accordingly?
I am testing importing rebar from Concept to Revit, and everything is working except bar size. The "rebar material" property in ISM is not mapping to the "primary bar - type" parameter in Revit--they're all coming in as #1 bars instead of the correct size. Any suggestions? I don't see an option in settings to map rebar properties the way we can map other sections.

For beam splice, can I specify more than 2 rows of bolts on top flange ? It looks like that RAM Connection has limitation of 2 rows of bolts only, am I right ?
